Although it's looking more and more unlikely that NBC will change their minds about canceling
Las Vegas, fans of the show are still fighting hard to get it back on the air. On Monday, March 10,
lasvegas-theseries.com, the fan site that's leading a major save-the-show campaign, sent its third shipment of baby booties to NBC, with the boxes scheduled to arrive tomorrow. So far, the site has sent 121 cases cpntaining 5,904 baby booties.
For those who are unfamiliar with the campaign, fans are being asked to send booties because the last episode of
Las Vegas that NBC decided to air ended with a big cliffhanger concerning Delinda's (
Molly Sims) pregnancy. In addition, the baby booties are not costly, easy to ship and can be donated to charity.
Apart from the booties, the website has also sent NBC a print-out version of their online petition. To date, the site has collected more than 15, 000 virtual signatures.
The campaign has been getting a lot of exposure thanks in part to various entertainment websites. It's also been getting a lot of support from people from the show, including series creator Gary Scott Thompson and executive producer/writer Matt Pyken.
"On behalf of the cast and crew of
Las Vegas, thank you for your support the last five seasons,” Thompson's message, which is posted on lasvegas-theseries.com, reads. “You're the greatest fans in the world. Good luck with your campaign! We're ready and willing to give you the series end you deserve.”
"Just wanted to add my thanks for your loyal support and the heartfelt campaign to save the show,” Pyken told the site. “It's been by far my most fulfilling experience as a writer -- because of the wonderful cast, great crew, brilliant writing staff-- and most of all because of the loyal fans who tuned in every week for five years. They weren't afraid to tell you when they loved something in an episode -- or if they hated something too. Please thank everyone for their support, and thank all of your readers so much for sticking with us. We had you all in mind every week."
The website is currently working on its fifth campaign goal, which is to send 15 more cases of baby booties to NBC. Fans who want to see this goal realized can donate to the site.
