We're doing things a little different this Thanksgiving week. Yes, it is Tuesday and that means... time for The X Factor
! I'll wait for all the applause and wildly sporadic movement to conclude before we get this show on the road.
Everyone in their seats? Ok, good.
So in honor of Thanksgiving and those scrumptious turkeys, the contestants will be dedicating their performances to someone who has made an impact on their lives. I believe Astro should dedicate his song to Simon for saving his ungrateful behind.
Oh! And two contestants will be leaving us tomorrow. No pressure or anything.
Rachel Crow - "I Believe" by Yolanda Adams
Dedicated to: Her family
Great vocal performance! It's no surprise that this little girl has some pipes. I cannot help but think that she's just too young for some of these songs. Plus, her outfit makes her look a lot older. Paula seems to get so caught up in being overly nice that her comments hardly make sense. Anyways, all the judges love her.
Marcus Canty - "Song for Mama" by Boy II Men
Dedicated to: His mother
How perfect is this? The vocals are on point and the feeling is so obviously invested in the performance. I can completely understand why his mother is fanning herself. She doesn't want to ruin her makeup, duh! Seriously, though. There is nothing wrong about this. Marcus' best yet. He gets a standing ovation from the judges.
Melanie Amaro - "World's Greatest" by R. Kelly
Dedicated to: God
Wow! That's all I have to say. Wow! Melanie has just opened up like never before. A performance finally showcasing her true personality has led to streaming tears and a Virgin Islands accent! She's broken out of her shell! "Outstanding," is the word Simon uses. Melanie is comfortable at church, so let her stay in her comfort zone and keep giving us amazing performances like this one.
Chris Rene - "Let it Be" by The Beatles / "Young Homie" by Chris Rene
Dedicated to: Counselor Tim
Not the best vocals, but who cares about that tonight? The performance is so obviously close to his heart that he's dishing it out to everyone in the arena. He's smiling and having a good time, dancing and making everyone else feel as good as he does. In my opinion, that's what makes a good performer. Plus, he reminds us of why we fell in love with him in the first place as Paula says.
Lakoda Rayne - "You Belong With Me" by Taylor Swift
Dedicated to: Dani's Dad, Paige's boyfriend, Hayley's Dad, and Cari's Grandma
Okay so if you really really REALLY think about this song hard, then you can stretch the meaning to make it work for an inspirational Thanksgiving special. In the end, someone is still flat. The country genre is full of inspirational tunes. They couldn't come up with something better? I surely hope this is the end of the Lakoda reign. Get it? Did you like how I did that?
LeRoy Bell - "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan
Dedicated to: His mother
This is somewhat of his usual performance, yet something about it stands apart. No, it's not just the fact that the performance was dedicated to his late mother. I think because of his passion behind the lyrics, LeRoy's vocals were more powerful. He still has a bit of growth to endure, but it's definitely a step in the right direction. LA is the only one that disagrees.
Astro - "Show Me What You Got" by Jay-Z
Dedicated to: America... just kidding! It's for his supporters.
As we all know by now, he's added in his original lyrics. You know, he knows how to hand out an apology, for sure. He still has the crowd on their feet. If he can just remain humble, or at least pretend to be so, this kid can go far. "I'll never let you down again," he says. Okay, he handles it well. What do you guys think? Astro-naut or Astro-not?
Drew - "Skyscraper" by Demi Lovato
Dedicated to: Her best friend
Not just because I'm a fan of this song, but this might be the first week I genuinely like Drew's performance. That high note proves to be a problem, though. I'm not afraid to say that I'm thankful for the background music that kicked in and drowned out her flubs. She feels it, though, and fires back at LA's ridiculous comments.
Josh Krajcik - "Wild Horses" by The Rolling Stones
Dedicated to: His daughter
Josh Krajcik and a piano is the end-all be-all of this show. One can almost reach out and touch his feelings and the intensity behind them! Nicole is brought to tears, watching Josh on stage. Great way to end the night. This guy really can do no wrong.
Voting is open! Who do you think will or should go home? Let's not forget that tomorrow two contestants will be going home. Plus, Bruno Mars and Kelly Clarkson will perform. Make sure you tune in to The X Factor
tomorrow at 8/7c for live results.
