After The X Factor fired Steve Jones as host at the end of season 1, Simon Cowell hinted that he's interested in hiring a male and a female duo without previous hosting experience. Names like Khloe Kardashian, Kelly Osbourne and Erin Andrews were up for consideration but the list of celebrities in the running to become the new host just became longer with the addition of Glee star Kevin McHale.

Glee Actor as the New X Factor Host?

According to TV Guide Magazine's sources, the actor who plays wheelchair-bound Artie on the FOX musical series is under consideration to co-host The X Factor, which returns this fall for its second season. McHale is no stranger to the program since he already hosted a behind-the-scenes featurette during last year's season opener. Most recently, he also hosted this year's Teen Choice Awards alongside new X Factor judge Demi Lovato. If McHale gets the part, Glee fans will be pleased to know that it will not affect his role in the musical series' fourth season, which kicks off on Thursday, September 13.

Fighting for Britney Spears

With one album left to produce with Jive Records (now RCA), Britney Spears is rapidly becoming a hot commodity. Sony's Epic Records chairman and X Factor co-star  L.A. Reid and former Jive exec Barry Weiss, who now heads the label that represents Justin Bieber, Kanye West and Mariah Carey, are both fighting to sign the 30-year-old pop star. According to The Hollywood Reporter, while Reid is offering counsel, promising to boost Spears' career to the next level and using their new found friendship on the show, Weiss is trying to win her by using their 15-year history together, having guided her career.
