Jaimie Alexander Doesn't Prepare for 'Kyle XY' Role

Jaimie Alexander as Jessi XXMany actors exert great efforts when preparing for a role, but apparently, television actress Jaimie Alexander, who plays Jessi XX on ABC Family's Kyle XY, isn't one of them.

“I'm probably one of the worst actors as far as preparation goes, because I actually don't prepare,” Alexander told monsterandcritics.com.  “I find it easier to read the script and whatever hits me in my stomach, like deep down, I just go with it.  And the director kind of molds me whether to go right or left with it.”

The 23-year-old actress added that the very nature of her character on Kyle XY is also what hinders her from fully preparing for the show.

“There is really no preparing, because the thing is, she's so unpredictable that if I kind of, in my head, make up my own story for her, it's never the same,” she said.

“It's never the same as what the writers had planned.  So I just kind of fly by the seat of my pants and whatever happens, happens.  And I've been lucky so far."

Jaimie Alexander has been lucky indeed.  She broke her way into the industry in 2004, and in three short years managed to land roles in several television series, including Standoff and Watch Over Me.  She began appearing on Kyle XY just last year.

The second half of the show's second season premiered last Monday. Alexander said that this time around, her character plays a “big role and definitely stirs up things a lot more… still while trying to be a good person, but things don't always go her way.”

One of the most significant issues facing Jamie Alexander's Jessi this year is the search for her own family.  On last Monday's episode, Brian told Jessi that he is her father, and Alexander said that her character's hunger for love just might be enough for her to put her trust in Brian later on.

"I think, at this point, anything could happen.  But, right now, I've got to tell you, Jessi's so desperate to find somebody that loves her – a piece of her past so to speak – that I think it makes her more willing to trust people that maybe she shouldn't trust,” she said.  “But, as of right now, she has her guard up. If it's one thing she's learned, she can't trust everybody."
