ABC has finally set premiere dates for several of its new mid-season shows, including the comedy
Don't Trust the Bitch in Apartment 23 and the new Shonda Rhimes drama
Scandal.
However, despite pleas from TV critics at the TCA press tour, ABC
president Paul Lee still didn't announce a premiere date for season 3 of
Cougar Town.
Apartment 23 will take over Wednesdays at 9:30pm starting April 11 following the end of
Happy Endings season 2. The show stars Krysten Ritter as the titular bitch who makes life hell for her new roommate.
Apartment 23 also stars
Dawson's Creek alum James van der Beek as a fictionalized version of himself.
Scandal, about a crisis management team in Washington D.C., will premiere Thursday, April 5 at 10pm, forcing Rhimes' other show
Private Practice to move to Tuesdays at 10pm for its final four episodes of the season. Much like last year, when ABC premiered
Off the Map, this means there will be three different shows created by Shonda Rhimes airing at the same time (the third being
Grey's Anatomy).
While no date was given for
Cougar Town, it will most likely premiere in March. More likely than not the show will take over Tuesdays at 8:30pm in the time slot currently occupied by
Work It, which will almost certainly be canceled within a month or two given its low ratings and universal bad reviews.
Apartment 23 and
Scandal join the rest of ABC's new mid-season shows that have already been scheduled, including sci-fi drama
The River (Tuesday, February 7 at 9pm), the Kristin Chenoweth Texas dramedy
GCB (Sunday, March 4 at 10pm) and the Ashley Judd thriller
Missing (Thursday, March 15 at 8pm).
