We recently
assessed Knight Rider’s chances for survival in the cutthroat world of television and came to a conclusion that viewers must give the NBC remake a chance. In fact, our very own John Kubicek also
named Knight Rider’s Five Steps for Success, which might just help the series, which has garnered poor reviews from critics. Executive producer Gary Scott Thompson also revealed the they took into consideration the original series and incorporate new characters into it, making “sure that those four characters clicked into what the new mythology was for the series.”
For those who stand among the rest and think that
Knight Rider is worth a shot, here’s some good news.
The Hollywood Reporter recently reported that NBC has ordered four additional scripts for
Knight Rider, which might be a good sign for the staggering show. The remake of the 1980s series about a man and his technologically advanced and capable mobile unit reeled in an average of 7.3 million viewers a week and a 2.4 rating among adults aged 18-49. Despite not being fantastic ratings to be proud of, the results have been adequate for the series to be tagged competitive in the Wednesday 8pm slot. Additionally, Zap2It reports that
Knight Rider has performed “reasonably well among male viewers.”
Knight Rider comes after another show which has received an additional script pick-up, which is often a precursor to a full-season order. CBS’ impressive drama,
The Mentalist, also received a script pick-up, while two debuting series has been signed on to a full season, FOX’s very successful
Fringe and CW’s
90210.
Knight Rider stars
Justin Bruening as Mike Traceur,
Deanna Russo as Sarah Graiman,
Sydney Tamiia Poitier as Carrie Rivai and
Bruce Davison as Charles Graiman,
Yancey Arias as Alex Torres,
Paul Campbell as Billy Morgan and
Smith Cho as Zoe Chae. Catch
Knight Rider tonight at 8pm on NBC.
