Before 2008 came to a close, NBC treated fans of Knight Rider with “Knight Fever,” the episode that was shot between “A Knight in Shining Armor” and “Journey to the End of the Knight” but never aired.  The installment saw Mike trying to stop the spread of a computer virus that threatened a total global meltdown.  It also saw a jealous Mike when Sarah reconnected with a former boyfriend, portrayed by guest star Jeffrey Pierce of The Nine fame. This week, actress Vanessa Williams will be gracing the action drama series and she’ll be playing a character that is quite different from her comic/ villainess role as former magazine creative director turned editor-in-chief on Ugly Betty.

Tonight’s episode is called “Don’t Stop the Knight” and finds Mike (Justin Bruening) and KITT (voiced by Val Kilmer) attempting to rescue a kidnapped foreign ambassador named Olara Kumali (Vanessa Williams) from a terrorist in time for peace talks.  Soon, however, Mike and KITT find themselves on an endless string of mini-missions by a crazy terrorist in exchange to keep the ambassador alive and later, they realize that they are a part of a much bigger plan.  Rivai (Sydney Tamiia Poitier) and a team of FBI agents try to outsmart the terrorist but they unfortunately find themselves in an explosive situation.  At the same time, Sarah (Deanna Russo) and Dr. Graiman (Bruce Davison) try to fix a sick robot.

As reported previously, NBC has decided to roll back its full season commitment to Knight Rider to 17 episodes due the show’s fading ratings.  The series averaged a modest 1.5 rating among adults 18-49 during the November sweeps period so pressure to save the show lies on numbers of the remaining eight episodes of the series, including tonight’s installment.

Don’t forget to catch Knight Rider tonight at 8pm on NBC.
