Were you starting to worry about how you would get your recommended daily allowance of Chef
Gordon Ramsay after this season of
Kitchen Nightmares ends? While
Hell's Kitchen was picked up for another season, for now, it appears that won't air until summer of 2008.
Never fear, you will still have the chance to watch various and sundry kitchen staff be berated all through next spring, as Fox has just picked up
Kitchen Nightmares for another ten episodes.
Kitchen Nightmares has done better than expected in a tough time slot up against
Grey's Anatomy spin-off
Private Practice,
Criminal Minds and new series
Bionic Woman.
Fox alternative programming president Mike Darnell had high praise for Ramsay's show. He said, "To be doing well and moving up on that night and against that competition is nothing short of miraculous…I think this show is going to be on this network for a long time.”
The success of the show, however, means that supernatural cop drama
New Amsterdam has been put on hiatus. Seven episodes of the show had been produced, but it would appear the network wants to stick with what is working and re-evaluate the new series.
In order to produce that next season, a whole new slate of restaurants will be needed. To that end, Fox has started accepting applications from restaurants brave or crazy enough to risk opening up their kitchen to both Ramsay and the public. It appears to be an incredibly detailed application process, with whopping twelve – count 'em – twelve whole pages to get through, with medical, personal, family, lifestyle questions.
One question is: “Do you have a favorite famous Chef? If so, list whom and why?” Now, Gordon Ramsay doesn't seem to be the kind of man who really responds well to the kiss-up, but you never know, restaurant owners, maybe it can't hurt to pencil in his name there.
