At the beginning of season 5 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, veteran star Kim Zolciak's role seemed to be unclear, with rumors of her filming less and less with the rest of the women. Now Kim is opening up about why she chose to quit and even hinting about a possible spin-off in the future.

Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.

"I was eight months pregnant and there was so much drama; I just had to walk," Kim told In Touch Weekly. "I've taken on so much in the past five years, but this was the final straw. My priority was the child inside me."

The drama Kim is referring to revolves around an incident that has yet to air on RHOA, but not surprisingly, it involves her decision not to go on a group vacation with the rest of the girls. And contrary to her castmate's beliefs, it wasn't because she didn't want to hold any black babies. On the contrary, Kim explains that at 36 weeks pregnant, she was given orders by the doctor not to travel.

"They couldn't understand why I couldn't go. Fighting is what we're known for, but I've never disagreed with a pregnant woman. It's not one life you're dealing with, it's two. I decided to take care of myself. If they thought being pregnant was an excuse, that's too bad. I had Kash three weeks early! It was the right decision."

According to RealityTea, Kim's last episode of RHOA will be December 2, but she suggested that she is not through filming new footage for Bravo.

"I can't say it was easy to end that chapter. After all, I met my husband through this show," Kim said. "But would you rather film with a bunch of women or your own family? I love being home with my family. And who doesn't want their own show?"

The content of the spin-off (unlike the future flop that Vanderpump Rules looks like) would follow the day-to-day of Kim's life, much like her previous spin-off, Don't Be Tardy for the Wedding, and Bethenny Frankel of RHONYC's spin-off, Bethenny Ever After.

"It's going to be a fun, light-hearted show about our crazy everyday life," she said. "My amazing husband is doing awesome in the NFL, we're building a home, we have a teenager, a tween and two babies."

However, her co-star and arch nemesis NeNe Leakes has another tale to tell. She maintains that Kim was fired from RHOA, as opposed to making the decision to leave.

"It's so funny how this chick wants people to think she quit the show! The producers no longer wanted to work with you! Good bye with the lies," NeNe tweeted. She also added in another tweet, "None of the girls or producers wanted to work with her! Saving face like all the other ex-housewives! You were fired! Good bye."

Of course, Kim maintains via Twitter that she was not fired, and that we can expect her spin-off as early as this spring.
