John Carroll Lynch was born on August 1, 1963 in Boulder, Colorado and was raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he was educated at the University of Minnesota. There, he found his passion for acting and actively participated in theater productions. He later graduated with a degree in fine arts from The Catholic University of America/Hartke Theatre Acting program and moved around the country, performing on stage. Lynch started appearing on film in 1996's Fargo, Beautiful Girls and Feeling Minnesota. He has also appeared on television shows such as Murder One,
Frasier , The Client, Life's Work,
Star Trek : Voyager, The Fugitive, Gideon's Crossing,
The West Wing , Carnivale and
Close to Home .
Captain James Embry is played by John Carroll Lynch on the FOX series K-Ville. James is the head of NOPD's Felony Action Squad, a team specialized in hunting down the most-wanted criminals in the Katrina-destructed town of New Orleans. His unit consists of various personalities and he balances this out with humor and tenacity, making up New Orlean's only hope for survival.
