The pint-sized version of MasterChef will return for another season on FOX.

MasterChef Junior shows off the culinary skills of cooks between 8 and 13 years old, who create chicken liver pate, beef Wellington and pistachio macaroons, to name a few of the dishes presented in season 1.

It also features MasterChef challenges like the mystery box challenge and the restaurant takeover. Even the judges are the same: Gordon Ramsay, Graham Elliot and Joe Bastianich. Viewers of MasterChef who worried the judges' style would be too harsh on the kids were surprised. They cracked jokes, were very encouraging and positive -- and even let the junior chefs pour whipped cream over their heads.

The first season of MasterChef Junior worked like this: 24 junior chefs are divided into three groups, preparing one of the following three categories: seafood, pasta and dessert. The judges then choose 12 to continue on into the competition. Each week, two chefs were eliminated.

The ultimate victor received $100,000 and the MasterChef Junior trophy. In season 1, 13-year-old Alexander from New York was named the winner.
