August 9, 1973

Scottish actor Kevin McKidd was born on August 9, 1973 in Elgin, Moray where he also grew up. He was a member of the Moray Youth Theatre where he honed his skills in acting at a young age. He initially wanted to become an engineer, enrolling at University of Edinburgh, but dropped out to enroll at Queen Margaret College and study drama. While in college he participated actively in theater productions, joining the University's student theater company, Bedlam Theatre.

McKidd's subsequent roles on films were on Trainspotting, Small Faces and Kingdom of Heaven. He also graced the television screen by appearing on shows like Looking After Jo Jo and The Long Good Friday. However, his role as Lucius Vorenus on the HBO series Rome, and his role as Private Cooper in Dog Soldiers brought him to prominence. Most recently, McKidd starred as time traveler Dan Vasser on NBC's Journeyman.
