Weeks after Kristen Chenoweth sustained injuries on the set of the The Good Wife, the actress decided to drop out of the CBS drama, People reports.

"It is with deep regret to inform everyone that due to my injuries, I am unable to return to The Good Wife," Chenoweth said in a statement. "[I'm] getting better slowly, and thank you everyone for your concern."

"We enjoyed having Kristin on the show and would love to have her back when she's feeling better," CBS Television Studios said in a statement.

Chenoweth, who has appeared on Glee, Pushing Daisies and The West Wing, was cast last month for the upcoming fourth season as a political reporter who is expected to cause problems for Peter's campaign. But on July 11 on the set of The Good Wife, her head hit the concrete ground after a scaffolding fell on her.

Shortly after, the network issued a statement saying: "This afternoon, while filming a scene for The Good Wife in Brooklyn, a gust of wind blew a lighting silk out of place striking actress Kristin Chenoweth. She received treatment on the scene by the show's medic until a New York Fire Department emergency medical team arrived and transported her to the hospital. All of us at the studio and the show are thinking about Kristin and wishing her a quick recovery."

Chenoweth will, however, appear on the season 4 premiere.

In other news, Annabella Sciorra has been tapped to play a tough and smart lawyer on the The Good Wife, according to TV Line. Her character is described as Alicia's (Julianna Margulies) doppelganger. Sciorra, just like Margulies, appeared on The Sopranos as one of the many women in Tony Soprano's life though the two actresses never shared a scene together. Sciorra is the latest addition to the roster of season 4 guest stars, which includes  Amanda Peet, Maura Tierney, Nathan Lane, and Marc Warren.

Meanwhile, Josh Charles is set to make his directorial debut on the show this fall. TV Line reports that Charles, who plays Will Gardner on the drama, will go behind the cameras in the sixth episode of season 4, which also marks the debut of Amanda Peet.

The Good Wife kicks off its fourth season on Sunday, September 30 on CBS.
