Born on May 10, 1975, Andrea Anders is an American actress best-known for her role as Alex in the Friends spin-off sitcom Joey. She’s also worked on other TV shows and movies, such as Law & Order, Spellbound, Oz, The Stepford Wives, and The Class. A native of Wisconsin, she later went on to earn a Master of Fine Arts degree from Rutgers University. She then began an ongoing career in theater, playing Mary Parker in the Broadway production of Proof and Elaine Robinson in The Graduate.

Alex Garrett is played by Andrea Anders in the TV comedy Joey, and is the resident next-door neighbor and friend. She’s an educated lawyer, yet a slight ditz who befriends Joey and his intimidating older sister Gina. Alex spends most of her time hanging out at Joey’s apartment, and is impressed by Joey’s innate gift at knowing when she’s wearing thong panties. As they grow closer she confesses her marriage problems to him, due to her musician husband being away all the time. She has crush on Joey for a long time, but only after she separates from her husband and starts dating another man does Joey realize that he likes her too.
