When CBS’
Jericho was cancelled in May, fans of the post-apocalyptic drama series came together in an unusual but creative way to save it. They began a “nut” campaign based on a line uttered during the previous season’s finale. CBS was so impressed with the fans’ dedication to the show that they decided to renew
Jericho for another season, which will air next year as a mid-season replacement.
However, the battle is not over for the campaigners just yet. As a way to gain a larger viewer count, the network has decided to air repeats of the show, challenging the existing fan base to get more people to tune in. The pilot episode of
Jericho was re-aired last Friday, and based on the fast national data, the fans came through for their beloved show once again.
The
Jericho repeat drew a 3.2/6 rating, maintaining a strong lead for the CBS network at 9pm. The viewer count it earned was modest considering the standards of a summertime holiday weekend. Nevertheless, the numbers were enough to stump its competitors. The second half of The CW’s
Friday Night Smackdown! came in second with 3.0/6, while NBC’s
Las Vegas took in a 2.5/5 to place third.
Standoff finished in fourth place for FOX, while ABC’s
Kyle XY trailed behind with 1.8/3.
The next hour went to ABC with
20/20 gaining a 4.1/8 rating. CBS fell to second place, with
Numb3rs drawing in 3.9/8. NBC’s
Law & Order: Criminal Intent claimed the third spot with a 3.4/7 rating.
CBS averaged a 3.5/7 primetime rating share, beating NBC’s 3.0/6 for the top spot. ABC earned a 2.7/5, placing it in third place, while The CW took fourth place with 2.6/5. FOX landed in fifth place with only a 2.2/4 rating share.
The CW secured first place with regards to the adults 18-49 demographic. The said network scored a 1.4, topping CBS’s 1.3 rating. ABC, NBC and FOX fell behind, with 1.1, 1.0 and 0.8 ratings, respectively.
It is important to note, however, that since all figures are based on first national data, they are deemed preliminary, and therefore, may be subject to change.
