Jericho has certainly taken viewers for a wild ride this season, from the beginning when we were sure the country was under nuclear assault from a hostile country, to the present day where we know that the bombing was the result of some twisted group bent on throwing humanity back to the stone age, for its own good. Later this month, though,
Jericho takes yet another twist. This one could change the way things happen in
Jericho permanently, and bring profound and powerful new set of characters into town.

We see enough explosives and bombs and clouds from war on the 6 o'clock news. I really really dislike this...
What if the guys on LOST could never get off the island, but suddenly found themselves with the way to talk to anybody in the world. That would be an odd change of events right? Well the equivalent may be coming to Jericho. We have assumed that the bombings obliterated the core structure of our Government, leading to the outlaw rules, posses, and trading posts that we have come to know and love. In the March 28th episode of Jericho, things take a radical turn with the news that the Government is, in fact, alive and well when a patrol of Marines rolls into town to restore order. Echoes of Ravenwood here... are they really Marines? And what is to become of the law and order that Jericho has fought to establish on its own? CBS Has this to say about the upcoming episode:
With the arrival of the Marines, the citizens of Jericho consider what their lives will be like when law and order is restored and the nation begins to recover from the bombings, on JERICHO.
Sort of gives you the feeling that Jericho may be heading for an ending akin to Prison Breaks first season. What happens when the best possible scenario lands in your lap? Of course it is just as likely that these Marines are well equipped mercs, like Ravenwood, or a sadly disillusioned hold out from a system that has been obliterated. Looking beyond this episode, there is no mention of the Marines. So it could be, for now, that this is just a passing adjustment to the Jericho dynamic. As far as just how big this contingent of Marines is? Have a look for yourself:
Not exactly the kind of force you'd expect from a country 'rebuilding' itself. Personally, I'm guessing these Marines are just another group of refugees looking for a place to hang their hat.
