While CBS'
Jericho remains in uncertainty, needing a continued show of strong support from its faithful following to carry on, it has lent its own assistance to military personnel currently serving in Iraq. The troops currently part of Desert Sentry recently received care packages courtesy of
Jericho Rangers for Our Troops, which included copies of
Jericho's first season DVD.
Jericho Rangers for Our Troops is the re-purposing of the original
Jericho Rangers movement responsible for pushing CBS to re-think
Jericho's planned cancellation at the end of its maiden season. Pressure from
Jericho fans, led by the
Jericho Rangers, has resulted in a seven-part second season.
One of
Jericho Rangers for Our Troops' pet projects is DVD for Our Troops, where the organization sends different DVDs to American service men and women. The group just received a note from Jeff Groskopf, a major and commander of Desert Sentry, thanking
Jericho Rangers for Our Troops for the DVDs which included the first season of
Jericho.
“Attached are a couple of pictures with the Jericho DVD and some other DVDs that we received from a friend of the project, Clara,” Major Groskopf wrote. “I can't tell you how much it means for us to know that there are people like you and your organization that support us. It fills us with pride knowing that there are people out there who take the time and the effort to give us a little piece of home and a little break from the day to day life in Iraq.”
“Our time here is about at an end and our Air Force replacements have begun to arrive. If it's ok with you, I would like to pass your information to them as I am sure that they would also enjoy your support,” the Desert Sentry commander added.
