Actress
Alicia Coppola has been in the entertainment industry for more than 15 years, gracing numerous television and film productions along the way. However, the 39-year-old actress claims that it is her current stint on CBS'
Jericho that has proven to be the most “wonderful experience,” with all her previous acting jobs serving as “very fine preparation.”
“
Jericho, in every aspect, has been the most wonderful experience of my career. I am truly grateful to be a part of such an amazing company,” Coppola told
Jericho~On~CBS.
On the post-apocalyptic drama, Alicia Coppola plays Mimi Clark, an IRS Agent who found herself stranded in Jericho after the nuclear attacks. Mimi becomes romantically involved with farmer Stanley Richmond, played by
Brad Beyer.
“I adore my Brad,” Coppola said. “He is a lovely actor, a brilliant comic and a true gentleman. I am fortunate to work with him.”
Originally, Alicia Coppola tried out for the role of Bailey's Tavern owner Mary Bailey (Clare Carey), but she was eventually offered the role of Mimi. Coppola, however, is grateful for the part she landed.
“I thank [executive producers] Jon Turltletaub, Stephen Chbosky… Carole Barbee, [producers Karim Zreik and] Dan Shotz, CBS and virtually everyone who had a say in my hiring...I am thankful they looked hard into me and saw Mimi,” Coppola said. “They and the amazing writers have given me a huge gift in Mimi...”
Coppola, along with the rest of
Jericho's cast and crew, also received a “gift” from fans when they managed to convince the network to bring back the show from cancellation through a nut-centered save-the-show campaign.
“We do the show for you, our fans,” Alicia Coppola said. “You all campaigned beautifully and gracefully. You supported us and gave us much needed encouragement. I am proud of you and grateful to you all. I think you are all brilliant for doing what you did...you made television history.”
Jericho's seven-episode second season will air sometime next year.
