Jericho is played by Ashley Scott. A school teacher, Emily was the ex-fiancé of Jake Green, the son of Jericho's mayor of 25 years. Jake left Jericho many years ago, only to return to claim his inheritance from his deceased grandfather. His father was reluctant about giving him the money, thus Jake was to walk away empty-handed. However, Jake returned to Jericho after meeting an accident.
Emily and Jake's falling out was caused by the death of Emily's brother, Chris, who died during a robbery attempt. Emily's father, Jonah, ordered Chris, Jake, and Mitch Cafferty to carry out the robbery, but he did not know that this might cause the death of his own son. Emily and Jonah's relationship was greatly affected by this event, as she believes that her father is no more than a cold-hearted thief.
As a nuclear bomb exploded in Denver, Colorado, Emily was kidnapped by two escaped convicts posing as Sheriff Deputies. Upon learning about Emily's abduction, Jake set out to rescue her, and was successful at handling the hostage. He shot one of the two men dead and was able to get Emily back from the hands of the criminals. The two then took shelter in a friend's storm cellar as a radioactive fallout-infected rainstorm covered the town.
Apparently, Emily's fiancé, Roger was on a flight back to Jericho when the attack happened, and she was to fetch him. However, she later found out that the plane landed in Wichita, Kansas instead.
Emily was also once involved in a love triangle with Jake and her co-teacher Heather Lisinski. She was also about to reconcile with Jake and get their relationship back together when Roger returned to Jericho. She eventually chose Roger, who was later exiled from the town, as Heather traveled to New Bern. This was the chance for Jake and Emily to get back together, and the two had been close ever since, as Emily was the one to comfort Jake during his father's death.
