During this summer hiatus, Glee
fans everywhere are clamoring for any bit of news on their favorite musical show while we wait for season 4 to begin on September 13. It has now been confirmed
that Chord Overstreet, who plays Sam, is in talks to return to the show. But not only that, he'll become a series regular.
Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.
If you recall, at the end of season 2, Overstreet left the show
and pursued other options but eventually negotiated a deal to return partway through season 3. Now, with this news, we'll be able to see Trouty Mouth all season long (or at least as many episodes as will allow considering the show will transition back and forth between Ohio and New York).
But what about the rest of the cast? Ryan Murphy previously said there's an open invitation to any of the graduated cast members to return if they would like to. There's good news on this front, as all 15 of the series regulars have accepted that invitation to return, but there's a catch (of course there is).
Since Season 4 will split its time between the students and staff at McKinley High and the post-high school journey in New York City, not everyone will able to appear in every single episode. The Hollywood Reporter
mentions that "the cast's 'series regular' or 'recurring' status with the show wouldn't be directly linked to how many episodes each actor appears in as their roles tend to be on an as-needed basis as some recurring players appeared as series regulars in the past."
(The 15 returning are Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Chris Colfer, Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch, Naya Rivera, Kevin McHale, Darren Criss, Amber Riley, Jenna Ushkowitz, Jayma Mays, Dianna Agron, Mark Salling, Harry Shum, Jr. and Heather Morris.)
And "in addition to storyline reasons," Deadline reports
, "some cast members may have reduced presence on the show as they pursue other projects, including features, theater and music." When Murphy first put out the open invitation to return, he wanted to make sure the cast would be afforded the time and opportunity to take on other jobs as well.
It is still unclear if The Glee Project
winners Samuel Larsen or Damian McGinty will return.
