Tonight, it's time to say "Goodbye" as the seniors will be handed their diplomas, and then it's time to look to the future. We know that it'll emotional for the cast, the characters and us the viewers. So let's see if we can find out any more scoop on who's staying and if anybody's leaving Glee
? Plus, what'll happen to Sue's pregnancy storyline? Will They Stay or Will They Go?
In recent weeks, both Dianna Agron and Amber Riley have sent out tweets that may have been misconstrued to mean they are leaving the show for good. And now Ryan Murphy himself has come out to clarify the status of who will stay on and if anybody's leaving. "We had a meeting, and you know we've become like a family, and I said to them, 'Anybody who wants to stay on the show will stay on the show,'" he told Vulture
. "They're all coming back. Anyone who is a regular is coming back. Everyone said yes." And this also applies to the adult characters of Will, Sue and Emma.
However, just because everyone is coming back doesn't mean we'll be seeing them in every episode or even for most of the season. It seems that some of them may end up being the equivalent of guest stars: "It doesn't mean everyone will be doing 22 episodes ... I wanted to make sure those actors know that if they want to have a home, they have a home. If they want to explore new and different things while also having a home, that is also an option." I have to commend Murphy here to allow such freedom of the cast to come and go as they please, essentially.
Will NeNe Leakes Still Be on Glee?
We've already seen this season Sue Sylvester and Coach Roz Washington (NeNe Leakes) clash many times, and seeing Roz's face after Sue helped New Directions win Nationals was priceless. Will they still be going at it in the finale? Jane Lynch told The Hollywood Reporter
that they will indeed, and it'll revolve around who will be in charge of the Cheerios: "Sue is going to fight. In the finale, they tease something for next semester: Roz proposes to me that we join forces over something and I don't give her an answer right away. It's perhaps something we'll see in the next season."
Does this mean NeNe Leakes will stick around on Glee
next season? If Nene has anything to say about it, she will. Incidentally, she has been cast in Ryan Murphy's new comedy, The New Normal
, set to air this fall on NBC. But she plans on juggling Glee
, The New Normal
and possibly The Real Housewives
as well.Will Sue Give Birth?
I'm sure I'm not the only fan who has noticed that with how long Sue's been pregnant, she should at least be showing by now. And she even made a quip in last week's Nationals episode about being pregnant for an indeterminate amount of time, which was hilarious. So this begs the question: Will we actually see her give birth?
Jane Lynch says
that "I know that Sue's supposed to give birth in September, so whether that happens before the fourth season starts or in the off-season I have no idea." She continues by saying, "There are many [variables]. I could lose the baby. I am 51, so it's a risk and they already [established there could be] some abnormalities in a previous episode."
I'm a little torn on how they should deal with this storyline. On the one hand, if they just have her give birth between seasons and we never see any of it, it'll be a cop-out, especially after some of the heavy scenes the show has focused on, such as when Will and Emma went with her to the doctor's office. But then if they do include the birth on the show (in September, as she mentions), would that take too much time away from all the new storylines that the start of season 4 needs to focus on, such as Rachel, Finn and Kurt in New York, and recruiting new members for New Directions?
