Mario Batali Biography:
Italian-American Mario Batali is well-known for his extraordinary culinary abilities and orange Calzuro blogs, but his career blossomed from humble beginnings. As he was studying Spanish Theater and Economics at Rutgers University, he worked as a pizzaman (his previous job was as a dishwasher in New Jersey). Some years later, he went to Northern Italy to work as a chef’s apprentice and eventually opened his own restaurant called Po in 1993. In 2000, he sold the restaurant and with a business partner bought the award-winning Babbo Ristorante e Enoteca, among with many other five-star restaurants. His expertise in Italian cooking has also been witnessed all over the world as has appeared in many shows in the Food Network, one of which was the highly popular Molto Mario.
Although Molto Mario was cancelled last year, his fans need not fret. Batali has returned to the Food Network as one of the resident chefs in Iron Chef America: The Series. He, of course, is the specialist for Italian cuisine. He is assisted by two sous-chefs, Anne Burrell and Mark Ladner.
