Quentin Tarantino's latest film
Inglourious Basterds, has begun production last week in Germany. Wait, wasn't that supposedly called
Inglorious Bastards? Turns out that the misspelled version is the official title of the film, if we're to rely on the statement the film's distributors released. The name reflects that of an early draft of the screenplay that was leaked to the Internet a few months back, and is possibly a ploy to differentiate it from
Inglorious Bastards, a 1978 film which inspired Tarantino.
The film, which is expected to hit screens in 2009, already boasts of an all-star cast:
Brad Pitt, Eli Roth,
Mike Myers, Diane Kruger and
B.J. Novak are just some of those who will star. The press release also announced a number of new cast members. Omar Doom, Michael Bacall and Julie Dreyfus have worked in Tarantino's other films: the first two, on
Death Proof, while the last appeared on
Kill Bill. Also joining the cast is
Cloris Leachman—this assures her work after her tenure with the still-ongoing
Dancing with the Stars.
