Lou Diamond Phillips Says 'I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here' Victory Was Unexpected
With all the wild behavior the celebrities showed in the wild, a lot of memories managed to emerge.  Even though the antics of Speidi and Janice Dickinson come to mind, one thing still stands out among them.  That is, the simple fact that it was Lou Diamond Phillips who won the competition.  He didn't need to act as crazy as the rest of them to be noticed by the viewers, leading him to victory.

"It's such a ridiculous honor," the 47-year-old actor announced during a conference call.  "I was stunned by it. I certainly didn't assume anything."  He bested finalists John Salley and Torrie Wilson, earning the renowned I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here title "King of the Jungle."

Despite his triumphant return from Costa Rica, Lou Diamond Phillips assures everyone that he won't forget the entire experience.  There were plenty of things gained from it, but he especially treasures those he had a chance to work with.

"One of the real blessings and surprises of this whole experience was competing with people who not only have accomplished so much in their lives, but are just amazing human beings," the actor went on.  "I really, really consider them close friends now and I'm never going to lose touch with them."

Phillips continued to comment on his I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here camp-mates, pointing out the successes of American Idol's Sanjaya Malakar and Illinois' former first lady Patti Blagojevich.

"[Sanjaya] came in just game, just ready to mix it up," Phillips admitted.  "Just a wonderful personality and great to be around.  I absolutely fell in love with him.  He's my adoptive son now."

As for the wife of former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich, the winner exclaimed, "She was a rock.  Just out of her element, surrounded by a bunch of people with these ridiculously flamboyant personalities.  But she held her own and had such dignity and such poise throughout."

Meanwhile, he couldn't help but remark on the two Hills stars and former supermodel Janice.  Laughing, Phillips said, "The behavior speaks for itself.  There's no need for me to embellish."
