The runner-up in the sprint for the heart of New York (Tiffany Pollard) might, at first glance, appear to be another reality television barnacle, clinging to the underside of the entertainment world by making appearances on reality shows like I Love New York and offering up beefcake calendars highlighting his chiseled abs.
But the fact is that Buddha is much, MUCH more than that.
He's thinker and a philanthropist. All in all, a man who has a lot to offer the world; but sorry, I Love New York fans. For the month of February, though, what he has to offer isn't for sale at any price.
Buddha, like many I Love New York and other reality show alum, can supplement his income by booking appearances at clubs and events. However, his assistant recently posted that “Buddha will not be accepting paid bookings for the month of February as he has dedicated the month toward Philanthropy and ADAMANTLY refuses to be paid. He will be making exclusive appearances throughout the United States, Africa, The Carribean, & Central American in support of Black History, Awareness & Appreciation Month.”
Even the siren call of the always busy Valentine's Day won't shake him from his purpose. His assistant wrote, “We understand that Valentine is a particularly lucrative weekend for most events throughout the country and we thank you all for your VERY IMPRESSIVE appearance & motivational speaking offers however NO AMOUNT OF MONEY OR GIFTS will buy Buddha's time.”
But of course, you might be thinking, everyone has a price! Certainly, there is something someone could pay him that would make him reconsider. But no! “His purpose,” says his assistant, is beyond your finances.”
So what will Buddha be doing instead? “His campaign includes increasing jobs and education for Africans in Africa and for Black Americans & Minorities in America. Likewise, he's continually focused on limiting diabetes and cardiovascular disease in American while supporting the development of adult stem cell research for disease prevention and solution.”
Through the end of the month, therefore, you'll have to hope to catch Buddha at one of those exclusive appearances, but he won't be coming to you.
