Kids are finally coming into the limelight. Reality shows featuring the younger crowd are making more of a presence on television screens. Following the lead of CBS' successful yet highly-criticized reality show,
Kid Nation, other reality series have surfaced to showcase the abilities of the younger generations. This time, VH1 steps forward and offers audiences a new dish to satisfy your talent search cravings.
I Know My Kid's a Star has debuted on VH1 last March 20, featuring former child star
Danny Bonaduce as host.
According to VH1, the competition aims to find the "one great, aspiring, triple-threat, stage-hungry kid, identify them as a star and train their driven, stage mom or dad to be a supportive and fit parent who won't end up driving their kid into rehab."
Like any other typical reality competition show,
I Know My Kid's a Star takes place in a mansion in Los Angeles. The contestants for this competition are ten parent-child teams who are willing to take on every challenge to prove that their child is worthy of the Hollywood spotlight. Bonaduce and casting director and manager Marki Costello will judge the teams based on skill level, poise, likeability and stage presence. Eventually, the team that exceeds expectations will grab the prize of $50,000 cash and a year of representation by Costello.
In the freshman season of
I Know My Kid's a Star, we have ten teams of aspiring child stars and their often brutally ambitious parents who must have enough talent to be the next big star in Hollywood.
Gigi and Alai,
Helene and Cheyenne,
Jonathan and Austin,
Kevin and Devon,
Lisia and Hayley,
Pamela and Mary Jo,
Rocky and Hayley,
Sandy and Gian,
Shannon and McKenzie and
Shari and Cameron make up our ten teams who will battle it up on the stage to prove that they are tough enough to make it in Hollywood, during the course of eight, hour-long episodes.
Catch
I Know My Kid's a Star on VH1 every Sunday at 10pm.
