'Human Target', 'American Idol' To Flip Time Slots
There's been one last-minute change to Fox's midseason schedule: the returning American Idol and the new action series Human Target are flipping time slots.

It was previously announced that the ninth season of the singing competition will air on Wednesday nights at 8pm (apart from, of course, Idol's Tuesday night show, also at 8pm), followed by the new Mark Valley-fronted series at 9pm. Now, Fox is changing the time slots of both shows: Target will now air from 8pm, with Idol following it at 9pm.
However, Target will still premiere on Sunday, January 17, from 8pm. It will still air on its original Wednesday night time slot on January 20. The new schedule will debut only on January 27. Observers see that Idol's move to the Wednesday 9pm slot is aimed against ABC's surging comedy Modern Family.

Confusing? Here's everything in bullets:

Tuesday, January 12
8pm: American Idol (season premiere)
9pm: Our Little Genius (series premiere)

Sunday, January 17
8pm: Human Target (series premiere)
9pm: 24 (two-hour season premiere)

Wednesday, January 20
8pm: American Idol
9pm: Human Target

Wednesday, January 27
8pm: Human Target (new time slot)
9pm: American Idol (new time slot)
