Barney Stinson and Stella, finally together.
OK, maybe not, but the actors who play those two characters on
How I Met Your Mother have been tapped to host the Creative Arts Primetime
Emmy Awards.
Neil Patrick Harris and
Sarah Chalke (best know for her work on
Scrubs) will co-host the ceremonies, which will take place on September 13 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. The event will air a week later, September 20, on the E! Channel. The Creative Arts Emmys recognize those less celebrated, yet incredibly important, behind-the-scenes TV workers, like set designers, cinematographers and editors. In addition to this announcement, ABC (who will carry the Primetime Emmys broadcast this year on Sunday, September 21) also unveiled the first batch of scheduled presenters.
The
Desperate Housewives gang will all present an Emmy award together. It will be a crowded stage, with
Teri Hatcher,
Marcia Cross, Eva Longoria,
Felicity Huffman and Nicolette Sheridan sharing the presenting duties. You can expect some self-deprecating patter about how a couple of the ladies from Wisteria Lane were snubbed by the Emmys this year.
Also presenting together will be Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. The duo performed together on
Saturday Night Live for years together, and have co-starred in two movies:
Mean Girls, and the recent
Baby Mama. Both ladies are up for Emmys this year as well. Fey is up for both Best Actress in a Comedy Series and Best Individual Performance in a Variety Series for the week she hosted
Saturday Night Live. Poehler is up for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on
Saturday Night Live.
The final announced presenter pairing is
Hugh Laurie (
House) and Julia-Louis Dreyfus (
The New Adventures of Old Christine). Both are nominated as well, Laurie for Best Actor in a Drama and Dreyfus for Best Actress in a Comedy.
Which presenters are you most looking forward to?
