UPDATE #2: Contrary to rumors, CBS did NOT pick-up How I Met Your Dad.

Now that CBS viewers have met the Mother (and been sorely disappointed by the fact that she was killed off in the series finale of How I Met Your Mother), the network is allegedly going to try to do it all again, this time with How I Met Your Dad.

UPDATE: CBS is denying that any official order has been made for the series, though other sources, like TVLine, are reporting that it is a done deal.

The show from the creators of HIMYM with a similar concept, except now told from the point-of-view of a woman, has been ordered as a series by CBS for the 2014-2015 season.

The new show stars Greta Gerwig as the main character, a woman who is considering getting a divorce from her husband of a year. Meg Ryan will provide the voiceover narration, much like Bob Saget did for HIMYM.

The pick-up of the HIMYM pseudo-spinoff comes the same day that NBC ordered a comedy starring the original show's titular Mother, Cristin Milioti in the romantic comedy A to Z.

With so many successful shows and comedies, being picked up on CBS is a big deal for a pilot since the network typically orders far fewer new shows than the other networks. Last year was an exception with six new sitcoms, but there had only been six total new comedies in the three years before that.

CBS will reveal all of its 2014-2015 plans at its Upfront presentation on Wednesday, May 14.
