The production for the television adaptation of Noel Botham’s novel, “The Murder of Princess Diana”, has begun. The made-for-tv movie will be shown on the Lifetime network, with Working Title TV behind the productions. The film will feature House star Jennifer Morrison.
Morrison, who is known for her portrayal of Dr. Allison Cameron on the popular medical drama, has been cast in the role of an American journalist who bears witness to the tragic car crash which took the life of Britain’s beloved Princess of Wales and her partner, Dodi Fayed. Diana’s unexpected death left many wondering about the true nature of the accident, which gave way to a number of conspiracy theories. To date, at least 30% of Britain’s citizens still question the circumstances surrounding Diana’s demise.
As plotted in Botham’s book, Morrison’s character becomes convinced that there is more to Diana’s death than meets the eye, and goes on to investigate for herself.
Simon Wright will be credited as the film’s executive producer. Directorial reigns have been given to John Strickland, with Emma Reeves and Reg Gandey as the film’s scriptwriters.
The Murder of Princess Diana is scheduled to start filming this summer in Luxembourg and Paris, though this will not be the first movie set for Morrison. The House star began her film career at the young age of fifteen, having debuted opposite Richard Gere and Sharon Stone in Intersection. Her subsequent big screen projects include Stir of Echoes, Urban Legend: The Final Cut, Surviving Christmas and Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Her career in the small screen has also flourished, having made appearances in popular shows like Touched by An Angel and Dawson’s Creek. She landed her role in House in 2004, and at the end of 2006, became engaged to Australian actor, Jesse Spencer, who portrays Dr. Robert Chase on the show.
