LA Times Emmy Screening Serves Up 'House' Secrets

House Emmy Screening I know – time crawls ever so slowly when our favorite shows aren't on and we've roughly 13 weeks before new House episodes invade our living rooms.  Last week, we gave you a few choice updates on what some of the cast have been up to outside the show.  This week, we further whet your appetite via delicious House secrets revealed on the final night of the Los Angeles Times' Primetime Emmy screenings last week.

Stars Hugh Laurie, Omar Epps and Robert Sean Leonard, along with creator/showrunner David Shore, executive producer Katie Jacobs and director of photography Gale Tattersall came to the showing of the recent season finale.  The Q&A that followed unveiled some in-House secrets, which the audience eagerly gobbled up with gusto.  Here's a rundown of show treasures revealed courtesy of Zap2it:

As the final night featured a screening of the emotional “Wilson's Heart,” let's begin with one of the pivotal events in that episode.  David Shore spoke about the decision to kill Anne Dudek's character, Amber.  While he assured that they don't maintain a death quota on the show, there are deaths necessary for the series' bigger picture.  In Amber's case, they apparently knew bringing her back that they would eventually kill her anyway, to build on the scenario of House failing to save the woman his best friend loved.  The ripple effects of Amber's death, including what it does to Wilson and House's relationship, will reportedly carry over to the new season.

Still looking ahead, Omar Epps touched on the subject of his character rejoining House's diagnostic team.  Zap2it reports the actor said Foreman currently finds himself between a rock and a hard place, where he leads the new team but remains under House's command.  Interestingly, he also allegedly joked about Foreman being asexual when asked about any romantic prospects for his onscreen persona.

Speaking of relationship potentials, the panel revealed that another thing the coming fifth season will explore will be the contrast between House and his new whipping girl, Thirteen, played by Olivia Wilde.  Look for a juxtaposition of the two with regards to their individual hang-ups and conditions – House as an external sickness and Thirteen with her internal Huntington's disease.

As to the prospect of another shortened season in the event a looming Screen Actors Guild (SAG) strike does occur, fans can rest assured that House will be up and running with fresh material.  While the panel kept mum about any further specifics, they did mention they went full steam ahead filming from the fourth to the fifth season.
