'House' Fan Columnist: Season 7 Predictions

With a few promos already out, it wouldn't be August if House fans weren't making predictions about where season 7 will go.  The promos are all pointing towards one fact.  House is in love and seems to be happy.  A baffled Wilson leaves a voice mail on House's phone stating how weird it is to hear House sound that way.  I love that Wilson's voice is our voice as well, of the audience, trying to feel our way through House potentially being in a good mood for a large majority of the time.

Latest Promo:

The cause of his good mood is his new relationship to Cuddy, which is confirmed as real, and not a hallucination like the end of season 5.  I know I'm ready for it, but how will it be done?  I have a few predictions on how their relationship will play out and about the rest of the PPTH doctors.  Most of my predictions are just guesses, but a few are based on some spoilers I read. Reader beware.

House and Cuddy

1.  In the first episode House will wake up in a similar fashion to "Both Sides Now" and feel for Cuddy in bed and she won't be there.  He'll worry he's hallucinating, but she'll appear or he'll hear her in another room.  I don't know that the writers could resist paralleling his fantasies with what is really happening in his life.  It's too rich of an opportunity.

2.  House and Cuddy will last the whole season.  I can't imagine that anything could break these two up that wasn't serious.  Cuddy is completely accepting of House as he is and she loves him even when he is difficult to love.  I predict that if their relationship goes south, she'll be the one that ends it. And if the show goes on to an 8th season, I predict a happy ending for the two of them.  Not marriage necessarily, but togetherness.

3.  We will get some funny scenes with Rachel and House.  Cuddy's number one priority is Rachel.  Then a tie perhaps between the hospital that she has devoted her life to and her new declared devotion of House.  There are no doubts in my mind it will be a priority for House to get along with Rachel.  I have no idea if or when House and Cuddy would move in together, but I doubt it will be rushed despite both of them being fully committed to the relationship.

4.  Katie Jacobs has teased that House and Cuddy might have an interesting time at work. She said something like, "What happens when the person you're sleeping with says no to you at work?"  I predict some explosive office conversations and House being seemingly impossible to deal with.  Cuddy, who wants to preserve her reputation as dean of medicine, will most likely have some problems when House uses their relationship as a bargaining tool.  However, using their relationship in that way can work for either of them and no one is as good of a match for House's manipulations as Cuddy is.

5.  House will go back to therapy with Nolan.  Even though he didn't leave things in the greatest place with his therapist, he'll go back to keep working on himself for Cuddy and for his own well being.  The question is, does House believe in karma now?

6.  House will play the piano for Cuddy.  Not sure what he'll play, where, etc. but I'm sure they will have a good musical moment.

Ducklings

1.  Maybe Foreman and Chase will be fighting over Amber Tamblyn's character, although my instinct is telling me she is being brought on the show as a love interest for Chase.

2.  Cameron will make at least one reappearance throughout the season solidifying Chase's need to move on.

3.  Taub and his marriage will survive for the time being and House's relationship with Cuddy will be an example of what strong love looks like.  Dysfunctional, but strong.

4. Thirteen's illness will have a strong effect on House and her potential death before series end could lead to House self-destructing.  Even though he's doing well now, the death of someone House cares about could put him right back to a place he doesn't want to be.

Wilson

1.  Wilson and Sam will be together for the long haul, but will not remarry.  Sam or Wilson may want to, but House won't allow it to happen, even in his happier state.

2.  Wilson's brother may make an appearance.

3. Wilson will be shaken by the idea of House being happy and healthier in a relationship and the fact that he might be confiding more in Cuddy than him.  The reverse could happen as well.  Cuddy could become upset that House still confides in Wilson more than her.  Either way, there will be some upset in the threesome.

4.  House, Cuddy, Wilson, and Sam will have some fun downtime together. Manipulation, secrets, etc. will ensue.
