House: Fall Preview
Fall 2006 Returning Shows Rank: 12 Hugh Laurie is the man. As Gregory House MD on House, Laurie has created a pantheon level character that is the driving force behind his show's success. Without Laurie (who is actually British), House would not still be on the air. This is a weird phenomenon. On House, the plot is secondary to the main character. This is the exact opposite of every other procedural on television. In the construction of procedurals, the usual path is to keep the focus away from the main characters. Their personal lives aren't ever highlighted and they act only as the mechanism to move the plot along. This is not the case on House, which provides it a freshness that no other procedural really has. Hugh Laurie is one of the best actors alive and it's great that he finally fell into a role deserving of his talent. -Oscar Dahl << Return to Fall Preview 11-20
