Omar Epps as Eric Foreman
Eric Foreman of FOX's medical drama,
House, is played by Omar Epps. A former juvenile delinquent who once burglarized houses and stole cars, Foreman was educated at Columbia University before he received his medical studies in Johns Hopkins Medical School. He later became part of the Diagnostic Medicine Department of Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital.
Foreman and House have a lot in common, despite Foreman denying it. He once showed insensitivity to his colleague's feelings when he told Dr. Allison Cameron that they were never friends, just merely co-workers. However, all this changed after he was diagnosed to have inhaled bacteria that attacked his brain. His bout with the deadly illness led him to become a more sensitive and caring man.
In season 3, Foreman's personality seemed to mellow down, thus becoming more sensitive to other people's feelings. In dealing with two interracial lovers, he was reluctant in telling them that they were siblings, afraid to hurt their feelings and ruin their relationship. Shortly afterwards, he was accused of being against interracial relationships, but avoided the issue as he was dating a white nurse in the hospital.
Foreman experienced an emotional downfall after he made a mistake in diagnosing a patient, thus killing the patient's immune system and forcing her into a painful death. Upon learning this, he agonized and blamed himself for killing her. Breaking down, he cited that he is no better than the criminal he was before. This was the first time that he was seen finding solace in the hospital chapel.
Foreman briefly left Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital to work at Mercy Hospital. However, Dr. Cuddy re-hired him to be Dr. House's close co-worker, and her eyes and ears in House's team. Since coming back, he seemed to be more sarcastic, and his sense of humor became very similar to that of House. Despite this, he expressed his relief of being back in his former workplace, in the company of his friends and colleagues.
