Previously on House: After helping a drunk House (Hugh Laurie) get home from a bar, Wilson's girlfriend Amber was fatally injured in a bus accident. Can the bromance between House and Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard) be saved?
House creator David Shore made a rather controversial move in the show's fourth season, sending some beloved cast members to the background and bringing in a new crew for Hugh Laurie's crotchety doctor. Some fans weren't pleased, but I thought it was the best season of
House to date. The changes may not have been necessary, but they did bring a new dynamic to the show that made for a great mixture of drama and comedy. It was a fantastic year that will likely be recognized come Emmy time.
During the tragedy that capped off season 4, House showed something he rarely does -- compassion. Despite this, Wilson seemed to blame House for the death of his girlfriend. This conflict will come to a head in the new season, and may even lead to one or both men leaving the Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. It was also revealed in the finale that new character Thirteen (Olivia Wilde) has a genetic disorder called Huntington's Disease. Her career could be in jeopardy unless she keeps it a secret.
Even with the drama, season 5 of
House won't be all doom and gloom. House will still harass and berate his staff with wild abandon, and there are also rumors of a surprise new romantic relationship that is sure to raise eyebrows. Fans of Chase (Jesse Spencer) and Cameron (Jennifer Morrison) should also be pleased, as Shore has promised that the neglected characters will get more screen time in the new season.
House's fifth season is set to premiere on September 16. Be there when the show comes back with all its medical mysteries, and be prepared to laugh and cry more than ever.
Will you watch House season 5?
