This week I've got another blockbuster movie to preview - The Wolverine. I almost thought about doing one of the many other films that are being released this week, perhaps even one that was a comedy or a coming-of-age story. But The Wolverine has Hugh Jackman and, well, need I really say more?

Here is the official synopsis of the film from Screenrant:

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.

Check out the film's exciting preview:

Here are a few highlights from the trailer that got me excited to see the film:

Wolverine waking up from his nightmare as his claws retracted.

Yukio slicing chairs and coffee cops in half faster than the naked eye could see.

Yashida's very cool metal bed.

Wolverine getting the offer to become mortal.

"What they did to me. What I am. Can't be undone." "Don't be so sure."

Wolverine using his claws to keep from falling off a fast-moving train.

Wolverine vs. a robot?!

I've seen a couple of the X-Men films and Wolverine was always one of my favorite characters in that series. It seemed fitting that he should get a couple films that focus on his story and The Wolverine looks like it's going to be another great installment. From the preview, it appears that you don't need to have seen any of the other films to understand the plot, but I'm sure fans of the series will enjoy it even more knowing the rest of Wolverine's story.
