MTV's new reality series, Taquita & Kaui, is set to premiere this Monday, April 2nd at 10:30pm ET/PT.  The show features two girls, Taquita & Kaui, who met on MTV's hit series "Making the Band 3" as they take their dreams of fame to the glitzy streets of Las Vegas.  The two best friends find that the road to stardom is a bumpy one, but are determined to do whatever it takes to make it in Las Vegas showbiz.  The stars of the show themselves, Taquita & Kaui, took some time to stop by BuddyTV to chat with us about their new adventure and what we can expect from this hilariously entertaining pair.  Check out the full interview transcript or listen to the audio after the jump.

BuddyTV: Can you two tell us a little bit about (for those of us who don’t know your background) how you got cast on Making the Band and how you two met and all that good stuff?

Taquita: One day in Detroit I heard they were having auditions for Making the Band, I said, “Ok, let me do my thing, let me go on down there.” I go down and I end up making that first round and then I had made it to the second round which was the next day making past those auditions. I flew to New York and everything was fine and um, I don’t know this story is really long…ok, I’ll go anyway…so like everybody was cute at casting so I got the 401 so I ended up taking my bra and there were some guys...put the mirrors on me. I had the pants, cut them into some booty shorts, strutted my stuff out there ready for competition and here comes this lil’ girl with glitter all over her, she thought she was all that…

Kaui: No, no I didn’t!

Taquita: Yes you did, and my outfit was the best one and then I figured if I take the glitter that she had on her body and put it on mine, then my outfit would be better than hers. So I asked if she had the glitter and I thought she was gonna’ lie and say no, but she was like, “Sure, it’s right here.” So I’m like ok, thank you, she gives me the glitter and I dab it all over me, make a big ol’ mess all over my chest. She goes, “No that’s not how you do it. You have to blow it on you like this…” So she’s all blowing the glitter on me and I’m like oh, you’re better than I thought and she blew it on my body. So I took the glitter and I’m like, “Bye.” She like followed me around and asking me personal things, and I’m like, “Get away, take the glitter, I don’t want it!” And then we like became best friends and we started singing and I love her and we became best friends ever since I took that glitter.

Kaui: I saw a commercial for Making the Band and it said if you could sing like Beyonce and dance like Britney, we wanted to see you at auditions. So I bought a ticket the next day - it was very expensive - and I just flew in out to Dallas by myself and got a little Motel 6 and went to my audition…and I made it. I think there were 1,100 girls at that one, and I made it to the top 9 girls in Dallas and then I flew to New York and I immediately noticed Taquita because she was just so out there and she’s so funny and so cute and very talented. So I fell in love with her apparently through the giving of my glitter, but thank God we became friends because we really found something real and true in each other. She’s the only one I trusted and she was really there for me and she became my best friend.

After you guys got eliminated from Making the Band, did you two immediately plan to pursue jobs in show business together?

Taquita: After Kaui left Making the Band, of course I was still there trying to do my thing and she supported me all the way to the end. After I didn’t make it, I stayed in touch with one of the producers off the show. I stayed in touch and then Kaui planned on moving to Las Vegas to you know, make something of ourselves and to fulfill our dreams together because of course, we didn’t make it in New York and make it on the other show. We figured we could just come out here and do our thing and be roommates. And MTV found out about it and decided to say, “Ok, can we follow you.” And I’m like, “What?” We were like, “Are you serious?” We thought we were getting Punk’d or something. And they were like, “No, we really want to follow you and we think it’s interesting that you two girls are still best friends, true best friends, and we know you’re going out to Las Vegas to make something of yourselves,” or to try, you know. So that’s how the whole ordeal started. And now looking at it from there, we got a TV show.

Can you two explain the premise of the show? Exactly what kind of things are we going to be seeing on the reality show?

Kaui: You’re just gonna’ see all kinds of things, a wide variety of all the kind of things that go on in Vegas. You know we came out here, we’re singers and dancers, and we also write and choreograph and we have a lot of other interests and hobbies that we like to do. We come out here to try and get our own show and we find out that its not that easy. So there’s a lot of things – we participate in a clown show, fire eating, a little bit of stuff like that – we don’t want to give too much away but its gonna’ be a very fun show for people to watch.

Taquita: Just know its gonna’ stay in the entertainment area, it might not be singing and dancing, but it stays in that kind of genre of scenes. We’re like we got to pay our rent, we need a job, we just need a good enough job to get us an apartment out here and really do our thing. So pretty much any job that comes to us we’re like, “Okay, okay!”

What would you say the worst job that you got in Vegas was?

Kaui: The worst? I didn’t have any bad jobs.

Taquita: Me neither. Honestly we haven’t had a worst job. All of them have been, well most of them have been very interesting, none of them were worst. We were probably the worst at some of the jobs, and they were like don’t ever come back again. We were like embarrassed because we thought we were gonna’ do well and the camera followed us and we were like all that, and they were like no you’re not. So none of them were the worst, but some of them we were not the best. But it’s all good. We have each other.

Kaui: Whats your favorite one?

Taquita: He didnt ask me that question.

Kaui: I did!

Taquita: You know my favorite, it’s a secret.
Kaui: Oh yeah.

Do you guys have any final words to your fans? Do you want to tell them anything about the show.

Kaui: We have fans!

I assume you have fans.

Taquita: I didn’t know we had fans? We just do our own thing out here. I just want to say that I believe in world peace…

Kaui: Shut Up!

Taquita: Ok, I’m kidding. I just want to say to all my fans to just hang in there, hold on tight to life. Everything is...ok, I don’t know what I’m saying right now. Do you want me to say something to inspire them to stick with their dreams whether it’s singing or dancing, drawing or college or whatever, to stick tight with their dreams, or do you want me to say as far as me and Kaui…what should I say to my fans?

It’s up to you, if you don’t have fans now, you will, right?

Taquita: Oh, ok. To all my fans, I appreciate all of those who do love and to stay true. I was born for this. They are my heroes. I’m no celebrity. I’m just Taquita, I was born and raised in Detroit, and I was born to entertain the world. And if you like me, thank you, if you don’t, thank you.

Kaui: Thank you very much for all of your support and we really hope that everybody enjoys our show. It’s about true friendship and I just want to encourage people to…when they find their real friends in life and the people that mean the most, to really hold on to them because you never know when they’re going to be, you know, when something happens. Just hold on to them because they might be all you have. And we just want to say thank you for all your support and please just continue to watch our show and God Bless everybody. We love you!
