Check out all our lists for BuddyTV's Top 7 of '07 to relive the best and the worst of the year in television.

The first ten months of 2007 were a wonderful time to be an avid television viewer, and the final two months were terrible. That's when the writers finally decided to go on strike. Suddenly, we went from celebrating the long-awaited return of our favorite shows to frantically counting down how many completed episodes were remaining. Many great shows ran out of episodes before the year was over, leaving us wondering when, or if, they'd ever return. 2007 is nearly over, and the sad truth is the strike is still no closer to being resolved.

That's why I'll always remember this as the year of the writer, for better or worse. They deserve our thanks for the creative resurgence of shows like Lost and Nip/Tuck, just as they deserve a swift kick in the pants for allowing Heroes and 24 to tumble. We have to pat them on the back for creating new gems like Dirty Sexy Money and Pushing Daisies, then backhand them for polluting the airwaves with The Big Bang Theory and Flash Gordon. However, they get nothing but a big group hug for continuing to make Friday Night Lights must-love-TV.

The writers mean everything in this business. They help to create the emotional moments that make us cry, the triumphs that make us cheer, and the heartbreaks that leave us moping for days. Without them, there won't be a "Top 8 of 2008" list. There will be nothing but a cold remote control on my coffee table, and a thick layer of dust on my TV screen. As a rabid television junkie, I simply can't bear to see that happen.
