As children of all ages celebrate and honor their mothers today, BuddyTV is taking a look at some very special moms from our favorite TV shows. Mothers have come a long way since June Cleaver. Today we have single moms, teenage moms, older moms and in the case of 30 Rock, an island full of mothers I’d like to have fun with (that’s what that acronym stands for, right?).
We poured over hot recent TV shows to put together a list of our 10 favorite motherly moments. These aren’t necessarily the best moms on TV, just some very special moments, or MOMents, if you will.

What exactly goes into determining whether something is a very special moment? One criterion is whether it warms your heart. Sometimes you can watch TV and see a moment of such purity and beauty that you cry along at home, wishing you could share such a tender moment with your own mother.
Other times, a special moment is more about a mother’s good intentions. Though their actions may not seem sweet, there are some overbearing mothers who genuinely want the absolute best for their children, whether the children see that or not. These may not be the moms you’d want, but they’re the ones who are more qualified to make that decision for you.
