Polaroid Not Sponsoring Nick Hogan
Tuesday, October 30, 2007

Nick Hogan, star of VH1's Hogan Knows Best Days after Hogan Knows Best star and driftcar racer Nick Hogan announced that Polaroid was sponsoring him for the 2008 racing season, Cheryl Mau, the company's vice president of marketing, reportedly denied the claims.

Hogan, who was behind the wheel of his Toyota Supra when it crashed on August 26, critically injuring his friend John Graziano, first boasted of the Polaroid sponsorship on his MySpace blog.  As word began to spread, numerous people shared their thoughts on the supposed sponsorship on various websites, most noticeably on planetfeedback.com, a site that allows consumers to post their opinions and send letters to companies.

One letter reads, “How could Polaroid agree to sponsor Nick Hogan?  I realize these are 'interesting' times for us all, but this was a really low and desperate move on Polaroids part... Let me ask you this, does Polaroid also plan to ‘sponsor' John Graziano and his family?”

Another concerned consumer wrote, “As a loyal customer of your product's for many year's, I am letting you know that I will not be purchasing anymore of your products due to your sponsorship of Nick Hogan.  I think you have outraged many customers and your sales will suffer for it…  Terminate your sponsorship of Nick Hogan immediately.”

Nick Hogan's father and Hogan Knows Best costar, Hulk Hogan, has had a business relationship with Polaroid, with the elder Hogan signing autographs at the company's booth during an electronics show in Las Vegas earlier this year.

Apart from Polaroid, Hogan also named -- via his personal website, hogandrift.com -- BF Goodrich as one of his sponsors, although the manufacturing company has yet to announce whether it will follow Polaroid's suit.

The Hogan Knows Best star made his announcements despite being advised by Graziano's attorney, George Tragos, to act “wiser” and lay low until “the issue is resolved.”  Tragos also said that Graziano is making progress, but declined to provide any specifics on his condition.

Do you think Nick Hogan's other sponsors will pull out soon?
