Add this to the growing list of controversies surrounding
Hulk Hogan's family.
A 33-year-old woman named Christiane Plante has confessed to having an affair with the 54-year-old pro wrestler, whose real name is Terry Bollea. Plante made the shocking revelation by writing to the
National Enquirer, which claims that the affair took place last year while the family was filming VH1's
Hogan Knows Best, before Hulk Hogan and wife
Linda Hogan went their separate ways.
"My relationship with Terry began at a time when Terry and Linda privately knew their marriage was ending,” Plante, who also happens to be a close friend of the Hulkster's daughter
Brooke Hogan, told the tabloid. “She had left him already, although no official papers had been filed.”
Plante also tried to justify the relationship, saying that Hulk Hogan is a “good man, good father and a good friend and I grew close at a time when he was going through a very difficult period. It seemed right then, but I know it was wrong.”
Claiming to have felt guilty over her involvement in the adulterous relationship, Plante said that she “gave a note” to Brooke apologizing for her actions.
"I will never be able to fully forgive myself for this,” Plante said. “I have lost an amazing friend."
Although none of the Hogan family members, who all starred in
Hogan Knows Best, have issued an official statement in response to Plante's claims, Brooke Hogan posted an emotional blog entry on her official MySpace almost two weeks ago.
“I'm going through one of the hardest issues I've ever had to deal with in my life...please keep me and my family in your prayers,” she wrote. “I need all the support I can get. Thank you...”
The 19-year-old aspiring singer, who is currently working on her second album, also did not disclose what “issue” she is experiencing, but did say that her writing "will reflect my state of mind at the moment.”
Brooke Hogan has been tapped to take over
Hogan Knows Best for its new season, which is being filmed in Miami.
