Hulk Hogan, apparently having recovered from the shock of his wife Linda's surprise initiation of divorce proceedings, actually does seem to know best. The wrestler/entertainment personality has filed a counter petition to Linda's divorce suit, in which he responds firmly to many of her requests.
Last week, the star of VH1's
Hogan Knows Best and patriarch of the Hogan family reeled from the stunning news that his spouse of 24 years was calling it quits with their marriage. The 54-year old Hogan was reportedly blindsided by the development, having first heard about it from a reporter with the St. Petersburg Times.
This week, the
Hogan Knows Best lead seems to have regained his composure with a point for point rebuff of nearly all of Linda's claims and declarations. The Hulk, whose birth name is Terry Bollea, pointed out, among many things, that Linda's declaration of their nuptial date is erroneous. She had listed it as December 12, 1983 but Hulk Hogan claims that it is in fact, December 18. To his credit, public records reportedly show that he has the correct marriage date.
Another point of contention between the
Hogan Knows Best couple is the matter of custody over their 17-year old son, Nick. In her suit, Linda is seeking legal custody until Nick's 18th birthday next July, while stating that she is amenable to allowing her husband “liberal visitation” rights.
For his part, Hulk Hogan has responded that their son is already of age to decide which parent he prefers to live with. He did add however that "it would be in the best interest for the parties to have shared parental responsibility."
Linda Hogan is also laying claim to half of their shared assets, including over $9.5 million worth of real estate and an unspecified figure in alimony and child support. She also expects her husband to shoulder all her legal fees involved in the divorce proceedings.
In response, the Hulk asserted that Linda is more than able to support herself as well as their son, but indicated that he would continue to provide health insurance for them.
