Vanessa Hudgens Nude Picture: Reader Reactions

The Internet has been veritably abuzz after the leaking of a nude photo of Vanessa Anne Hudgens. The 18-year-old High School Musical star has since issued a statement that the picture was meant for personal use, intended for boyfriend and co-star Zac Efron. BuddyTV readers wasted no time in responding to this incident in droves.

Read on to find out what BuddyTV readers are saying about it.

Many readers were deeply disappointed in the choices Ms. Hudgens made.

A reader from LA wrote, "I personally think that is sick. Why would she do such a thing?"

Another reader wrote, "OMG! VANNESSA! HOW DARE YOU! All those little girls look up to you...."

The comparisons with fallen idol Britney Spears were inevitable too. A reader from Los Angeles, who has never liked our fair Ms. Hudgens anyway, wrote, "Even Britney Spears sings better than her!!!!"

From down south, a very vocal reader from Florida thinks the "picture unabashedly depicts the depravity our American youth have sunk to" and thinks that Vanessa should be "severely chastised." This reader "would vociferously applaud Disney if they terminated her as a result of this incident."

Not everyone agrees on what is depraved and what isn't. An anonymous reader from an undisclosed location wrote, "What's the big deal about nudity. Are you all ashamed of your bodies?"

Of course, there were many, many fans who came to Vanessa's defense.

For example, a fan from Harrisburg, PA wrote of her object of admiration, "She is a goddess and should be given any movie role she desires! Not only is she good looking, a terrific singer and dancer, she's edgy as well! She is the most talented actress of this latest crop of Disney starlets."

Many other readers, clearly jaded by the spate of celebrity sex scandals in this day and age, think that this was just another publicity stunt.

For example, a reader from NYC thinks it was a brilliant move on Hudgens' part. "I'm betting this is a career move strategy by the actress & her agents to move her away from getting typecast in "Good Girl" roles. The picture is sexy but hardly salacious, and by saying it was private and for a boyfriend only, it doesn't degenerate into Britney-like material."

BuddyTV writer Oscar Dahl got praise from a reader in Illinois: "Oscar, great understanding of the situation. Roses to Vanessa's publicist, and thorns to America's frigid standards. If 'the system' tears down an eighteen year old actress over a photograph to her boyfriend, there is something REALLY 'rotten in the state of Denmark.'"

Other readers though Dahl's take on the situation was a bit too naive about Hudgens' celebrity and her connection with Disney. "Your points are valid if we were talking about any 18 yr old who posed nude for a camera. In this case it IS definitely an issue because . . . she did something that goes completely against what Disney and High School Musical stands for, and for that Disney should dump her," wrote this anonymous reader.

Finally, other readers agreed, if only facetiously, that Hudgens' connection to Disney is the reason for the brouhaha as well, and that Hudgens was in the wrong for tarnishing Disney's family-friend name.

"Vanessa how could you? I'm a little 13 year old girl in Chicago and you were my role model. . . . Look what Disney has done to American children. KILL DISNEY! KILL DISNEY!" wrote an ironic New Yorker.
