Born on July 2, 1985 in Monmouth County, New Jersey, Ashley Tisdale is an American actress and singer. Her parents are Lisa and Mike Tisdale, and her elder sister Jennifer Tisdale is also an actress. Ashley was discovered at South Shores Mall, by her manager Bill Perlman. She was three at the time, and was given roles on various commercials. When she was eight, she was cast as the lead role in the Broadway musical Les Mis?rables. She later toured around the world with the cast of Annie. She pursued her acting career by appearing on other stage productions like Gypsy: A Musical Fable and The Sound of Music at the Jewish Community Center in her hometown.

Ashley Tisdale was given a number of roles on several television series during the 1990s. She was in an episode of Smart Guy in 1997, and played the character Janice in 7th Heaven that same year. She lent her voice to the Lead Blueberry Scout in the animated family movie A Bug’s Life in 1998. She also had minor roles in Beverly Hills, 90210 and performed some sketches in The Amanda Show with Amanda Bynes. She next appeared in Boston Public in 2000, and was also featured in the film Donnie Darko as Kim. She continued to appear on numerous television shows like Charmed in 2001 and Malcolm in the Middle in 2002. She was in an episode of Grounded for Life, and was featured on four episodes of Still Standing as Bonnie. In 2005, she became known for her role as Maddie Fitzpatrick on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody on the Disney Channel. She also auditioned for the role of London Tipton on the series. Tisdale’s next role was one she became famous for. In 2006, she was cast as Sharpay Evans in High School Musical, a Disney Channel Original Movie. She initially auditioned for the role of Gabriella Montez, but her alto voice led her to a darker character in the movie. With the success of High School Musical, she became a guest star on other Disney originals. She appeared on an episode of Hannah Montana, and lent her voice to a character in Kim Possible. In 2007, she reprised her role of Sharpay in High School Musical 2, alongside Zac Efron, Lucas Gabreel and Vanessa Hudgens. She also portrayed the same character in the feature film High School Musical 3: Senior Year in 2008. She also voiced Candace on the animated show Phineas and Ferb on the Disney Channel. Tisdale also released her first solo album, Headstrong, in February 2007. It was distributed by Warner Bros. Records.
