This past Sunday, a massive crowd gathered in Long Beach, California to audition for High School Musical: Summer Session. Teens from many different states, from Wisconsin to Washington, got in line for their chance to get on the show. High School Musical: Summer Session show will air on ABC this summer and will be hosted by Nick Lachey. The winner of the show will get to be a part of the High School Musical franchise, though the exact prize has yet to be announced. The show opted to have only two massive casting calls, as opposed to a nationwide search, with stops in several cities. An upcoming audition will be held a week from tomorrow in Orlando.

Orlando’s audition will take place on May 7th at Champion Stadium in Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex. Eligible candidates have to be between the ages of 16-22 and anyone under 18 has to have their parents’ permission to participate. There are five rounds of auditions that a candidate must get through in order to get onto the show. They must sing a song from a general song list as well as a song from the High School Musical song list provided on ABC’s website.

The audition rounds will be part of High School Musical: Summer Session episodes, according to ABC. The show debuts on ABC on Sunday, July 20th at 8pm ET. It will air Sunday and Monday nights for the first three weeks, presumably the audition rounds, then continue only on Mondays for the remainder of the season. No judges have been named for the show yet, though there are rumors that High School Musical cast members could be involved in some way. Dancing/basketball lessons with Corbin Bleu, maybe? Singing at a piano with Olesya Rulin, perhaps?  It's only a few more months until we find out!
What should the winner of Summer Session receive?
A role in HSM3
A leading role in HSM4
A song on a HSM soundtrack
