He's grown up from High School Musical, and just as The Beautiful Life had his career steady, the show was canceled. Fortunately for Corbin Bleu, there's another role he's fit for. The 20-year-old actor will be portraying the lead role of Cale Bryant in the 2009 film Free Style, which doesn't refer to dancing at all. It's actually a motocross movie.
On an interview with Teen Hollywood, Corbin Bleu discussed how his new film is going. He also expressed how much he enjoyed filming and eventually obsessing over motorcycles since then.
The actor explained how he stumbled upon the script for
Free Style, which was brought to him by his dad's friend and business partner. "We read the script and really, really enjoyed it, thought it had a lot of potential and went from there," Bleu said. "We were really intrigued mainly by the backdrop of motocross just because it's something that you don't see too often right now."
According to him,
Free Style will get rid of the glammed up world of motocross in order to focus on the "real roughness or the real down and dirty side of it." It's probably why Corbin's gotten really fond of the sport.
"I've become obsessed with it! I have a bike now and I ride all the time," he exclaimed. "Before the film, I'd never even been on a motorcycle, never been in a race. I had no clue so it was really an all-new eye opener for me. I got a chance to experience a whole new sport that I've become a huge fan of now and I'm very passionate about."
Still, all that adrenalin rush came with a few bruises. "I have scars to prove it. Not on the movie but just riding, I tore the cartilage on my knee."
But that won't stop Corbin Bleu from pursuing even more projects in the future, be it a musical or a modeling gig. "There's a few projects that we were trying to balance as far as schedules with the show but, yes, a lot of free time has opened up so there will be room for some good films."
