After he became known for
High School Musical and then for
sort-of kissing a vampire on the interwebs, it looks like Lucas Grabeel is gearing up for another project. He'll be starring alongside David Hasselhoff on the upcoming flick
The Legend of the Dancing Ninja. Now, we're not exactly sure if this laughable effort will push through, but IMDB says it will. Grabeel will be playing the titular role in the movie, an orphaned boy named Ikki who later finds out that he's the legendary dancing ninja.
He then decides to go to Hollywood in search of his real parents but instead gets involved in a crime. To save himself (and probably some damsel-in-distress, as blah stories like this go), he has to combine his dancing skills with those of a true ninja.
Disney Dreaming reports that the movie might air later this year, even though it was due in 2009. They've put it off for quite some time now; maybe it will actually see the light of day soon.
Anyway, you can watch the trailer for
The Legend of the Dancing Ninja below. If you didn't get enough of Lucas Grabeel's moves on
High School Musical, you're in for a treat.
Immediately, I'm reminded of
Kung Fu Panda and that Disney Channel movie Wendy Wu. But this seems to be on a league of its own, maybe because Hasselhoff's in it. Also, it's supposed to be a sequel of 1997's
Beverly Hills Ninja.
I'm not really that convinced to watch the movie, mainly because the story doesn't interest me all that much. But for those who want to see it, you might be pleased to know about the rest of the film's stars.
Joining Lucas Grabeel and David Hasselhoff on
The Legend of the Dancing Ninja are Judy Jung-hwa Kang, Patrick Gallagher, Bree Turner, Gary Hudson, James Tsai, Lily Tien, and Anthony Shim.
