For the most part, life has been good for
Ashley Tisdale since hitting it big. She has starred on
The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and, most notably, has played Sharpay Evans in the
High School Musical movies. She has released an album and performed on the DisneyMania soundtracks. Coming up, she’ll receive top billing in several movie projects, developed especially for her. However, fame often comes with a price and Tisdale has been the subject of tabloid gossip from her plastic surgery to her relationships. Recently, the harshest story has hit the internet, with rumors flying that Tisdale was suffering from a very serious illness.
According to Us Weekly magazine, an internet rumor was spread this week that Ashley Tisdale was HIV positive. Her publicist, Scott Appel, told the magazine that “the story is completely untrue”. It started last week, when an online story said that the
High School Musical star contracted the illness after her rhinoplasty procedure last year. A fake press was released which stated, “Ashley and her family are trying to come to terms with this horrible development. They only ask that you pray for Ashley’s health and to please respect their privacy as the family decides on the next course of action." Cedar-Sinai, the hospital where Tisdale underwent surgery, has denied any involvement in the HIV story.
Though Tisdale's rep and the hospital have denied the story, Tisdale herself has yet to comment on it. No doubt the story has upset her deeply as there seems to be no basis for this story. Tisdale is completely within her rights to sue the website for posting a false story about her but there has been no talk of legal repercussions yet. Apparently, not everyone believed the story is false. According to People magazine, fans began posting sympathy videos on YouTube late last week, in support of Tisdale.
