In case you haven’t heard, the sensational tele-movie from Disney, High School Musical, is set to debut its sequel on the Disney Channel USA in August 2007.

Directed by Kenny Ortega, High School Musical 2: Sing It All or Nothing follows a group of teens as they get jobs at the country club as caddies, cooks and bus boys during their summer vacation. So, where will it be set? The musical will take place on Sharpay’s grandparents' country club, where she is pampered with her brother Ryan while Troy and Gabriella, now together, have to earn some summer cash as a lifeguard and waitress. Together, they all organize a talent show against a competing country club.

High School Musical 2: Sing It All or Nothing will feature the six original cast members, Zac Efron as Troy Bolton, Vanessa Anne Hudgens as Gabriella Montez, Ashley Tisdale as Sharpay Evans, Lucas Grabeel as Ryan Evans, Corbin Bleu as Chad Danforth, and Monique Coleman as Taylor McKessie, and will also feature a few new members.

Currently filming in St. George and Salt Lake City, Utah, High School Musical 2 is filled with singing, dancing, romance and swimming pool adventures, and aims to bring forth a different kind of viewing pleasure apart from its original plot but with the same kind of hype and sensation.

In February, it was reported that many adults were actually getting in line for auditions, just dying to be part of High School Musical 2 as their inclusion would make them instantly recognizable to millions of preteens.

Disney Channel’s entertainment president Gary Marsh said, “We have seen clearly what our audience responds to. The challenge is not to fall into the trap of taking the easy way out and making the same kind of thing.” In addition, Rich Ross, the network’s president said, “Kids are going through a lot today, maybe more than ever. They want to smile and relax and laugh. Laughter is the antidote to a crazy world.”
