'High School Musical' Video Game for Nintendo DS Now Available
The first official High School Musical video game, High School Musical: Makin' the Cut!, for the Nintendo DS™ was released on Tuesday, August 14.  In celebration of the game's official launch, Disney Interactive Studios will be hosting game tournaments at Nintendo World in New York City this weekend.

The event, which will take place on August 18, will be giving away a variety of prizes to worthy players, including tickets to High School Musical: The Ice Tour, High School Musical: The Concert, DVDs and copies of the High School Musical 2 soundtrack.  However, no one will have to go home empty-handed, as all attendees will be given High School Musical bookmarks.

High School Musical: Makin' the Cut! is a rhythm-based game that gives players the opportunity to choose between one of the six High School Musical characters- Troy (Zac Efron), Gabriella (Vanessa Anne Hudgens), Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale) Ryan (Lucas Grabeel), Taylor (Monique Coleman) and Chad (Corbin Bleu)- or custom-make their own characters.  The game, which features 12 songs from High School Musical and its sequel, takes players across America as they compete in the ultimate musical competition.

"We want to give fans the opportunity to be a part of the excitement of interacting with High School Musical, anytime, anywhere," Disney Interactive Studios' vice president of marketing Craig Relyea said.  "High School Musical: Makin' the Cut! gives fans a unique opportunity to interact with the High School Musical songs and characters that they know and love, whether at home or on the go."

In November, Disney will be releasing yet another video game based on the popular made-for-tv movie.  High School Musical: Sing It! for the Wii™ and Playstation®2 game systems has three unique play modes: story mode, where players can perform hit songs from the original movie, party mode, where up to eight players can sing and challenge each other in a karaoke-style competition, and quick play mode, where players can choose any song and any unlocked characters, outfits and environments.

High School Musical: Makin' the Cut! retails for $29.99. High School Musical: Sing It! for Wii will be available for $59.99 and $49.99 for Playstation 2, both of which includes a Logitech microphone.
